After a 3 week dry spell interrupted by only a few days of light snowfall and cloud cover, we came across several areas around Turnagain Pass growing big surface hoar. The predominant grain type formed during this spell was facets, which we are currently tiptoeing over. However, we stumbled upon a meadow around 1,600’ after some fun facet skiing up high on Tincan.
Needles were found in the flatter areas of the meadow. Average size was 4-5cm with max around 6cm.
